  Our solar powered racing car, represents a fusion of the latest developments in solar, electronic, materials, and mechanical technologies. Our ultra-lightweight car was manufactured from the latest composite materials. Constructed entirely of space-grade solar cells, our solar array is among the most efficient ever to race. Designed at the Drivetek in Switzerland, our programmable digital motor controller is among the most efficient ever designed. An innovative patent-awarded suspension system highlights our mechanical design.

Our recent experience racing in the 1999-2001 World Solar Challenge in Australia showed us both our strengths and our weaknesses. Over the next year, the Solar Motions team plans on building a new car improving on past weaknesses and incorporating new technology to stay at the cutting edge of solar racing.

With your help, Solar Motions will set a new world solar car speed record and win the World Solar Challenge (in 2005) becoming world champions. The last time an American team won the World Solar Challenge was GM in 1987!

Our public appearances with the solar car have shown that there is a high level of public interest in solar racing. A win by an American team in a major international solar competition will help bring alternative energy to the forefront of the public consciousness.
