In 2001 the Solar Motions “SoMo” finished
first in its class and 4th overall in the World Solar Challenge. The same
vehicle was used from 1999 with improvements to the wheel covers and Li-polymer
batteries. Despite using most of the old solar technology from 1999 and
with a very limited cash budget team managed to finish at the top. It became
evident the team is at world class level capable of winning the World Solar
Challenge a long with setting new records. The solar car could drive 52mph
with only 1000W. |
